About the Course

Pine Lakes was designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA, and was the setting for a group of Time Inc. executives to brainstorm the creation of a new sports magazine in the early 1950s – Sports Illustrated. Pine Lakes is also home to the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame. The clubhouse itself is considered a historic site and is protected by the National Historic Registry. In 2009, Pine Lakes completed an extensive restoration of its historic clubhouse and golf course. The entire layout was re-sodded with Seadwarf Paspalum turf in place of Bermuda grass. The re-designer, Craig Schreiner, swapped the nines so that the new front side, which showcases two brand-new holes, lends his own twist and style to the course, while the new back nine hearkens back to Pine Lakes’ Roaring ‘20s roots.
